I am working on a jobsite in the flight path of the Planes of Fame in Chino, CA.

It is like having a private airshow. Seeing a static display of a warbird does not match the SOUND of those big old radial engines galloping away as a plane takes off and turns over my head.

In the last two weeks, I have seen, the B-25, the Bell flying wing prototype (twice), a P-51C (several times), a TBF Avenger, a SBD Dauntless, and today, joy of joys a B-17 went over head. Yesterday and today apparently they are training a new pilot or checking out an engine on a B-25 and this particular one has been doing touch and goes all day the last two days. I thought I saw a FM-4 Wildcat and a F6F Hellcat last week but from a distance and I can't be sure.

I'm still waiting for the P-38 or their P-47 razorback to come over.

Fun fun fun...

Sounds awesome! You're right, it does sound like a private airshow. Are you taking photos? This could be the opportunity of a lifetime as you can't get all the angles, etc. at a regular airshow without the crowds.

Ray,

Yes, I finally pulled my head out of my butt and ran for the camera yesterday. Someone had a B-17 circling the area. I think it is that B-17G that flies around the country. It was all aluminum and had a yellow tail. It was definitely a G model.

The other day someone was buzzing around in a Bichon (ME109) and then today someone was circling around in an old ANT-10.

I need a better camera as these babies are at about 1000 ft when they come over.
