It took it's time to receive the permission for filming and taking photographs in the new built facility at Payerne Air Base. After nearly two years I received a call to come after tomorrow or the day later, or I have to wait again some time ...
Anyway - it was very interesting after seeing already some pictures on AF rinsing the salt off some Orions:
The Swiss Hornets receive this threatment only after some bigger maintenance and after foreign campaigns. And not with normal water, we use PENAIR M-5575 Exterior Aircraft Cleaner, a gel type degreaser. All holes and cracks have to be sealed before the washing begins.
Other such facilities are available at Emmen and in the mountain cavern of Meiringen. And no, the PENAIR is not hazardous, but it's easier to stay dry in this kind of clothes Muuuuhhh - welcome in the land of milk and chocolate |

Very nice Sven, thanks for sharing. I'm surprised the Hornet is no being scrubbed with some kind of a brush or something, only the high pressure.

Thanks Ray,
the pressure is lower than by a carwash, it's a better rinsing. With scrubbing you whould ruin the color layer. Muuuuhhh - welcome in the land of milk and chocolate |
