I WAS READING SEVERAL ARTICLES ABOUT THE HOUSE NATIONAL DEFENSE ACT (HR 4310). OHIO REP. MICHAEL TURNER INTRODUCED AN AMENDMENT (TITLE 10). THIS AMENDMENT WOULD PREVENT DOD FROM PROVISIONALLY DONATING AIRCRAFT TO GROUPS THAT WOULD RESTORE THEM TO FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT COULD ONLY BE ON STATIC DISPLAY. THIS WOULD GROUND THE CAF B-29 FIFI AND THE COLLINGS FOUNDATION F-4 AND THEIR TA-4. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REP. AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS. THE MILITARY GAINS A LOT FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE OLD WARRIORS. THE TRUE LOOSERS WOULD BE THE PEOPLE.

This has been an on going effort on the part of some of senators who feel the public SHOULD not have access to retired military aircraft. What is glossed over in the bill is the facts:

1. All retired aircraft, i.e., flown to Davis Monthan for retirement.

2. ALL aircraft that are put on the donation list are titled to the Air Force Muesum.

3. Once said aircraft is donated, the muesum that recieves the aircraft it is made clear the standards for displaying that aircraft. Moreover it stated the aircraft MAY NOT be made flight ready.

4. All aircraft on the sales list from Davis-Monthan are delilitarized, removable of all military equipment.
Most that are sold are for scrap value. Those that are sold on to the public, it is up to the new owners to provide
insurance on said aircraft and the flight worthy status is on new owner of that aircraft. Most of the sold aircraft are towed off of the base. But those that do remain must post a bond when the aircraft is made flight worthy in order to use there runways.

5. As in the Collins Foundation they went through Congress for approval on the sale of there aircraft. So congress need not be hypocritical.
Moreover there is the ONLY SU-27 flying in this country as i write this replay.
