Hi,

I have a question for the admins, or fellow members, to advise me on.

So far I've been submitting photos which are of an entire aircraft, as that is the core subject of AF.com.

I would like to enquire if photographs showing a partial (about 85% or less) aircraft, but with actions on it (pilots, engineers, etc) are acceptable subjects on AF.com.

An example which I'm thinking off would be something like this: SAMPLE

Or would such photos be individually judged on its appropriateness, as opposed to a blanket policy?

I'm sure there are other fellow members who may have such type of shots, but I've not seen it so far in browsing through photos here. Look forward to a discussion on this topic.

It is possible but the main focus of the picture should be the aircraft and not the action leading to the aircraft. But like you stated it is up to the screeners to pass the picture and see if they meet the criteria.

Jan, I agree with you that a 100% coverage of the aircraft must be the main target of the shot. I'm wondering if there is an acceptable threshold if due to positioning or other situational reasons, we are unable to obtain a 100% shot.

I guess I can try uploading a shot and leaving a note for the screeners to check if that is acceptable within the site's policies. But I'm also interested to hear from fellow members that might have, successfully or unsuccessfully, uploaded such shots, and what were the considerations the screeners looked at.

But fear not, I will still carry on with my uploading of shots!

Generally speaking the answer would be no. Especially if the crew members were recognizable. The subject has to be the aircraft and if a crew member is blocking the aircraft, even if looking away, the photo would be rejected. You might find a few exceptions in the database, but those are rare. Thanks for asking.

Appreciate the reply, Ray! Will keep the above in mind.

I may have some shots where crew members are on the edge of the shot, so a large percentage of the aircraft is still there in the center, but due to limited framing or sudden activity reasons, bipedals pop into view. But I'll cross that bridge very carefully if I intend too.
