No, it's not new, just that we haven't been enforcing it too aggressively. I'm ok with 3, 4, or even 5 shots as long as they are very different. For example, a left, right, front, top shot is ok. But, when there are several shots of the same side, then it's too much. Michael, please feel free to re-upload them and I'll take a look. If they are still in your account, I can see them as well. Let me know.

What's been kind of irritating me lately, are very similar photos of the same plane, taken maybe a day or two apart. For example, John Doe lives near his favorite air base and he loves to shoot military aircraft. So, he goes out on Monday and takes an approach shot of Hornet A landing at 4pm. It's a great shot and can't wait to upload it. Of course, he goes again on Tuesday and takes an approach shot of Hornet A landing at 4pm. It's a great shot and can't wait to upload it. Get my point? :wink I may be exaggerating a bit, but it's not that different from the scenario I just described.

I'm beginning to see that happening a lot lately and I'm not really sure what to do about it. If it wasn't for the date, they would look like duplicate shots of the same plane. What do you guys suggest? Don't take me wrong, I'm grateful to have all these photos uploaded, as similar as they may be, but we have to keep the viewers in mind as well. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

I think it's a very nice rule. I check my uploads also via the same process like Soundbarrier and Andreas, and I try to avoid shots of the same a/c with the same background during upload. Also I take a look of how many pictures are by me - if there are more than a couple of them and the new one is not looking different, then it stays on my PC.
But when you see all the pictures uploaded after an SpottersDay looking the same by different photographers and - more disturbing in my opinion - 5-10 shots from the same position by the same photographer with the registration as only changing point I'm not seeing the point. But thats maybe because I looking myself as photographer and not a spotter. And of course the upload time take some time - so these people had maybe not the chance to see that there where already an exact copy of 'there' picture uploaded.
My consequences are that I try now to complete the database with new aircrafts not already in dozens of pictures on AF. And I try also to write something interesting to every of my pictures - I think everyone have something funny/interesting/special to say to his pictures he/her wants to share with the community.
And now I'm beginning to run - the last couple of days nearly everything I wrote online was misunderstood and people got angry

Thanks Ray for explaining the upload limit, I do see your dilemma here and the need for some sort of regulation and I don't have a problem with it; I guess, as always, it depends upon how it is implemented by the screeners and I don't see a problem there.

No, I am not asking for my Paphos uploads to be reviewed, was just puzzled where the rule had come from.

But I still don't understand why viewers might not be thrilled by 15 different views of a P-2 Neptune in a Tucson scrapyard ...

Well it's not allways that easy to control yourself with uploading pictures...... ;-)
The screeners help us to keep the database interesting for all the aviation fans out there. If there are to many same looking pictures at airfighters, people will maybe loose their interest in looking to this great homepage.
What some of you call a new rule isn't new.....
I had the "pleasure" to get this message about to many similar pictures myself, because I wasn't checking the database careful enough......
This rule is not a problem I think, it helps to keep airfighters interesting!
