Between October 5-15 on Kecskemét LHKE HDF 59. Szentgyörgyi Dezsö AFB happen the Lion Effort 2009 army exercise. This is a Swedish-Hungarian exercise with 2 MiG-29, 2 L-39ZO Albatros, 2 Mi-24, E-3A AWACS, 6 JAS-39 Gripen, 6 JAS-39 EBS HU C,D Gripen. Hungarian units arrived from Kecskemet, Szolnok LHSN HDF 86. ,,ittebei Kiss Jozsef" Helicopter Base, HDF 12. ,,Arrabona" Anti Aircraft Missile Brigade with 2 KUB unit and one MISTRAL platoon, HDF 54. Veszprém Airspace Controller Regiment. From the Swedish AF arrived Air Combat School pilots with 6 Gripen, and NATO AEW&C with an E-3A AWACS. Coomander of the army exercise: brigade general Nándor Kilián, tha commander of the Kecskemet LHKE airbase. On the exercise they practise the 1-1 to 4-4 dogfight, air-to-ground attacks, and warfare against AA Missile trenches. That was great experience for the Swedish pilots to fight against the MiG-29.
