Arie van Groen also deserves a mention for some great 'oldies' on this site

I think the mix of aviation subject matter and timescale when taken is making Airfighters a much more diverse site now, initially it did feel a little bit like a RIAT posting board.

I still have many photos from two AMARC visits back in the nineties to share except my new film scanner worked for exactly two hours then broke down and has not stirred since!

Thanks for the kind words folks; I'm just pleased that I have the opportunity to show my oldish shots and even more pleased that you enjoy them all. Most of the stuff from Kinloss & Lossie was shot with a manual focus Pentax ME Super that did me proud over the years. My biggest disappointment is that a flood in my old house destroyed my pics from a three year period at Lossie from 1979 to 1982! Only very few survived and I'm sure I'll get there one day with scanning those.

I love this old fighter and the colorful Navy scheme.

I too am thankful for all the photographers sharing their work on here, from a time when I wasn't even around to enjoy such aircraft (with color, even!)

And thanks to Mark as well for his gorgeous A-6, F-14 and EF-111 photos!

Let's bring this thread back to the top, and give shout-outs to Rick Morgan and Hank Schuitemaker for their recent "old gold" contributions. Which is not to suggest that the scans that Eric Tammer, Alex S., Klemens Hoevel, David F. Brown, and others have posted in the last little while aren't worthy of praise as well. Please keep the old stuff coming, gentlemen!

In the meantime, let's appreciate the views of Soesterberg F-4s, bombed-up Desert Storm F/A-18s, and Bear takeoff rolls (love that one, BTW) that will never again be captured.

When I was younger, there were many possibilitys to take pictures from airplanes. The problem then was, that I haven't had a good equipement, like I have it in these days. In the old days I took my pictures with the Minolta 9000 and a 75 - 300mm lens, sometimes I have used a 80 - 205mm with 2 times teleconverter.
I'd like to turn back the time. You must now, that I grow up about half a mile away from the runway at Interlaken air force base

Every free minutes I spent at the airbase!
what could I have done with the camera and leneses, what I use now!!!?

So please, everyone keep on sharing the good old stuff!!!

Sorry for bringing up this old Thread again - but yesterday was a travel back in time with my timemachine

Do you remember those days where you had given your films to the shop or sent them through half of europe to a well known Adress in Lausanne (Switzerland) ? And after a few days you received a small parcel and the fun begun ?
I had this feeling again the last week

Ok, I still have hundreds of films and the same amount of Dias to scan 'till retirement, but last week I gave four of my still undeveloped work to a shop. And Yesterday was the day of the big questions ... where the films still in good quality ? What is on the pictures ? Over-/or underexposed ? Disintegrated Film ?

So, on one of the rolls I gave was written TOT Pay 02 02? ... and I received those:



Not exactly what was written on, but MiG-29 in Dübendorf are always welcome

And as you can see, film is not dead yet - I still have some rolls. The next few I will let develop maybe in a year, maybe next month ... when I want to travel back in time again
