All-weather, day/night, sonic interceptor. The F-102A is a single-engine, delta wing design, relying on rocket and missile armament to intercept and dispatch enemy bombers. Active with the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1956-1970, the F-102 saw combat in Vietnam as a forward air-controller. In addition to the 889 single-seat F-102A's which were built, 111 two-seat TF-102A's were also built by Convair. Turkish F-102A's were used against Greek forces during the invasion of Cyprus, the former alleging a victory over a Greek F-5A.

Weapons:
24 x 2.75 in. Folding-Fin Aerial Rockets (FFAR), mounted in the bay doors with 6 x AIM-4 'Falcon' air-to-air missiles (AAM). The F-102A carried all weapons in two internal storage bays. No gun armament was ever fitted to any F-102A during operational service. An alternative arrangement had 3 of the AIM-4's replaced by a single AIM-26 nuclear AAM.
