Photo ID 161424 by Richard de Groot. UK Air Force Boeing Vertol Chinook HC2 CH 47D, ZA675
The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a versatile, twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter. Its top speed of 170 knots was faster than utility and attack helicopters of the 1960s. Its primary roles include troop movement, artillery emplacement and battlefield resupply. It has a wide loading ramp at the rear of the fuselage and three external-cargo hooks.

The Boeing Chinook is a tandem rotor helicopter operated by the Royal Air Force. A series of variants based on the United States Army's CH-47 Chinook, the RAF Chinook fleet is the largest outside of the United States. The HC2 (CH-47D) Chinook is dhe updated version of the HC1 Chinook
