Known as the Tornado Nightfox, ZG706 served as a technology demonstrator operated by the Strike Attack Operational Evaluation Unit (SAOEU) at Boscombe Down. It was modified to develop FLIR tactics for the GR.4.
Painted with Italian AF markings when Italian crews were trained by 56 (R) Sqn. ZE340 was never delivered to Italy, it's RAF career ended at RAF Cosford as instructional air frame 9298M.
