Had a meeting with this C-47 while leaving Reykjavík Airport for England on the way to the 70th anniversary celebrations of D-day on June 5/6. Caught an almost full prop disc at 1/60 seconds.

I had this opportunity to photograph all three of the ICG Super Pumas from a hilltop outside Reykjavik. I was put there by the first of them and then they came by.

After the three Super Pumas had finished their posing, TF-SYN posed a bit for me. It is looking rather well in its new colors, having arrived from overhaul in Norway the day before.

Taken from a HH-60P waiting to line up on the tanker. Taken in almost a whiteout between two cloud layers, and thus no colors at all with the completely gray Hercules.

Built for the US Army Air force and rolled out on October 1, 1943. Spent all of its wartime service in Iceland and in 1946 sold to Flugfélag íslands. Served untill 1973, when it was converted for fretilizer spraying and used that way until 2006. Flyable.

This Norwegian F-16 just finished taking on fuel from one of the TDY KC-135 tankers based at NAS Keflavik. It was working with the F-15s of the 85th Operations Squadron, that hosted the TDY fighters for six to twelve weeks each.

This leased Super Puma, LN-OBX arrived in Reykjavík on Saturday, October 7, 2011. This photo was taken of it during the first flight with two Icelandic pilots. The photo ship was Dauphin, TF-SIF.

East of Reykjavík. TF-KAU came to Iceland with the US Army Air Force in 1941, and carried the serial 41-7997. Bought by the Iceland Gliding Club in 1946. Crashed in 1953 and rebuilt by Capt. Erling Jóhannesson over a number of years.

TF-KAU came to Iceland with the US Army Air Force in 1941, and carried the serial 41-7997. My first attempt to get a front view out of a Piper Super Cub. Captured with my first DSLR, Canon EOS10D and the 70-200 mm lens at 70 mm, F/8 and 1/250 sec.

Alongside the tanker in a tight turn to the right. We had two F-15Cs and two Norwegian F-16As along for the flight, but my photos are mostly unusable. Severe reflections in the F-15 canopy from the low sun angle. But who says no to an F-15 flight.

Having just finished taking on fuel, this F-15A from the Massachussets ANG, breaks away after refuelling. It is without any unit markings at this time, having just come out of the paint shed.

Taken atop a barrel roll of F-4E, 66-0323 above the formation of Boeing E-3A, 76-1605, F-4Es, 66-0330 and 66-0382. The photo was a well kept secret for some years, the pilot asking it not be shown to USAF officials, because rolling over an E-3 was banned.

Flying by one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Iceland. It is call Dynjandi and falls off the northern side of the mountain. The air was pretty rough on this side of the fjord, and therefore the props look almost stationary.

Taking on fuel over the Snaefellsnes paninsula. Taken with a wide angle lens to get the fuselage and wings into the photograph. The tanking usually is at about 20.000 feet.
