Marked as '63-428/JB' of the 17th WWS/388th TFW. Technically a BDRT airframe but preserved as a memorial to all those killed or missing in action during the Vietnam War
F-105F Thunderchief, converted to G-Modell, ex GA, ex WW, ex Georgia ANG, to MASDC 1982, now a gate Guardian at Spangdahlem AFB, nicknamed "the silent Majority".
This F-105G 'Wild Weasel' served with the U.S. Air Force to the end of her career in 1980, her "WW" tailfin code indicates that she was last based at George AFB. She is now preserved at the Mid America Air Museum, Liberal, KS.
The 'Thud' is an impressive aircraft from any viewpoint and even when mounted on a plinth she looks the rugged fighter that she was. Her markings are in reality inaccurate.
Previously operated by the 35th TFW with the famous 'WW' 'Wild Weasel' code this Thunderchief entered AMARC in 1980. In 1988 she went to Mather AFB CA for display.
Very recently restored, this F-105G 'Thud' was clearly a labour of love with every panel given an identity code. She is now on display at the very new but excellent Aviation Cadet Museum at Silver Wings Field, Eureka Springs AR.
