In a private garden at a stone's throw from the C-in-C Fighter Command, ACM Dowding Memorial, in Moffat, is this Full Scale Model (FSM) of 253 Squadron Spitfire HF.IXe PT462. The real PT462 is airworthy and based with ARCo at Duxford.
In the last few years this full scale Spitfire model has seen almost every corner of the British Isles. Seen here in hangar 4, representing Spitfire I X4178/EB-K of 41 Squadron. On 15 October 1940 Sgt Philip D.Lloyd was shot down by Bf 109s of JG 51.
The Brevet Club donated their real TE288 to the RNZAF Museum and got this fibreglass model in return. It is on display adjacent to Memorial Avenue, the main access road to CHC International Airport.
