This RF-101C Voodoo was photographed in AMARC in october 1993 and she still wore the markings of the 153rd TRS, Mississippi ANG who were the last unit to fly the type in late 1978. Scanned from slide.
The last photo-Voodoo unit in the USAF was the 153rd TRS at Meridian. In mid-1978 they operated from NAS Meridian while their own facility at Key Field was upgraded for RF-4Cs, which they received in January 1979.
Last operated by the 153rd TRS MS ANG, this magnificent and historic RF-101C 'Long Bird' was supplied to Gila Bend AFS as a range target. She looks as if she has been used as a battle damage repair training airframe.
When photographed in AMARC in 1989 this former 153rd TRS MS ANG RF-101C was one of the few survivors of this tactical reconnaissance Voodoo. Sadly she was scrapped by the end of 1999.
