When I visited the USS Hornet Museum in April 2022 this DF-8F Crusader was on display in the Hangar Deck adjacent to where museum visitors received their orientation and safety video briefing. Good to see such an early F8U-1 'Sader so well looked after.
This aircraft has been preserved aboard the USS Hornet Museum. She's wearing the colors of VF-154 "Black Knights", but she never served with them. She was assigned to VMF-122 "Crusaders" in the late '50s.
Initially built as an F-8A and was converted to DF-8F in 1963. It went to AMARG as “2F0185” on Dec 7th, 1970. Now it is on display at Pima Air and Space Museum.
Wearing different clothes to the last time it appeared here, this Crusader is preserved at the huge Pima Air & Space Museum, next door to Davis-Monthan AFB.
