G-CCHV is in the markings of the 1ére Escadrille of Groupe de Chasse II/5 "Lafayette" and has the command stripes of Commandant Jacques-Louis Murtin, CO of GC I/5 and GC II/ on its fuselage.
With pre-flight checks completed, pilot Steve Hinton is about to take the P-36C Hawk to the air on the eve of Flying Legends 2015, the Hawk's European air show debut. NX80FR is part of the unique TFC Curtiss stable.
38-210 in the markings of the 27th PS, 1st PG. The yellow band denoting the aircraft of Capt Robert S. Israel. In an experiment, all 27 PS aircraft were camouflaged in September 1939 in a series of colours and patterns, with no two aircraft being alike.
38-210 was delivered to Selfridge Field, Michigan, in May 1939 for service with the 1st Pursuit Group. The aircraft was assigned to the 27th Pursuit Squadron. The 'Fighting Eagles' now operate the F-22 Raptor out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia.
TFC's latest acquisiton, P-36C NX80FR restored by Matt Nightingale at Chino, California, arrived just in time for Flying Legends 2015. After reassembly was completed in the first July weekend, the P-36 was air tested by Steve Hinton on the 7th.
