An impressive sight in the static display at the 1987 Mildenhall Air Fete. This 'Habu' is now preserved at the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Ashland, Nebraska.
The black paint is now looking extremely faded after years of California sunshine. This machine is believed to have visited Mildenhall on the 9th July 1983 marked as '17962' whilst testing the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar System (ASARS).
Even back in 1985 you took any shot you could of the legendary SR-71 'Habu'! Hence a complete rear end of a lo-vis example on display at the 1985 International Air Tattoo.
