From 2004 onward, the Canadian Forces have had a single CF-18 demo team, alternating between 410 Sqn at Cold Lake, AB and 425 Sqn at Bagotville, PQ. Hi-viz markings have usually been limited to the tails. :( Here’s the 2004 demo jet, from 425.

When is a Cougar a Tiger? 410 Squadron and 4 Wing Cold Lake hosted the second Tiger Meet of the Americas in 2003. Their “Tiger”-themed jet was also used as the West Coast CF-18 demonstration aircraft.

Several CF-18s have served as demo aircraft in multiple years. 188796 did so in 2000 and 2001; this is the later version, painted to mark 410 Sqn’s 60th Anniversary. The tail markings show some of the other aircraft the Cougars have flown.

410 Sqn’s display aircraft wore a Year 2000 scheme in … 2000. I figure this special should have been called the Millennium Bug. ;)

410 Squadron’s demo jet for 1993 was the first CF-18 demo aircraft with airbrushed markings. Given that the previous year’s “special scheme” was a red Maple Leaf tail flash on standard grey markings, this Cougar tail caused a stir when it appeared.
