From the Michigan Air National Guards 171st Fighter Squadron. Never served with the 57th FIS at Keflavik. Ended its days at RAF Lakenheath as ABDR sirframe and scrapped there in 1996. Cockpit is being restored.
The Spad XVI is a two-seat version of the very successful single-seat Spad fighters of WWI, the Spad VII and the Spad XIII. This particular plane was built in 1918 and was flown by Brigadier General William "Billy" Mitchell.
