In 1936 G-ACSS had serial K5084 allocated for trials with the A&AEE at Martlesham Heath. Nowadays the airworthy 1934 London-Melbourne Air Race Comet is based at Old Warden aerodrome, which has practically the only suitable grass runway in the country.
