Hello Peter, the day before this picture was taken we were at RAF Lakenheath. A pilot gave us a tour on the airfield and told us he would be flying to McClellan the next day with two F-111's for heavy maintenance. The day after at Mildenhaal they told us we would be on a flight of two KC135's to bring two F-111's to the States! One would turn back (the flight we were on) and the other one would go with the F-111's to the States. I have never seen F-111's of USAFE with tanks by the way. The FB-111's did always fly with tanks.
