Hi,
A question really for the photographers who use this board. Which aircraft do you find the most photogenic and why ? Personally, I love shooting the B1b Lancer. It seems so graceful in the skies, has such sleek lines, and, with afterburners alight, shows sheer raw power. I also like the beauty of the Spitfire, again a very graceful looking aircraft with such beautiful lines. So, do others have any particular favourite ? Cheers, Tim |

I'd say for me it has to be the F/A-18 Hornet. I had a Yashika SLR handed down to me from my dad and I used to shoot 35mm prints at Moffett Field when the Navy was still there. It always looked the best and back then she was the newest and slickest bird. I was just starting out then so the pictures weren't the best quality. One of these days I'll scan some and upload them.

For me its got to be the F-15 Eagle. The sheer power and performance for a fighter is phenominal. For a big aircraft it can turn with the best of them.
I loved shooting the Buccaneer, low down it was graceful,on the ground a bit of beast.Such differance. Mod: Please sign your next post [Here] Thank you. |

Su-27 and its stablemates for me.
Seeing Yevgeny Frolov fly the mighty Su-37 at Farnborough was something else. The first validation/practice display he flew, I totally forgot about taking pictures I was just stood spellbound watching this big aricraft do things that it really shouldnt do. His actual show routine was toned down from the early practice flights but it was still something else! Mod: Please sign your next post [Here] Thank you. |

Although it is a pretty standard aircraft (we have a dozen airforces operating them in Europe) I really like the looks of the F-16.
My other favorites are the B-1B, F-117, Mirage F1 and Rafale. Dirk Jan de Ridder - MilAvia Press.com |

Mine would be the Hawker Hunter, visually a beautiful aircraft and a pleasure to photograph. We were lucky that the Patrouille Suisse kept their Hunter Mk.58s as late as 1994 and privately owned Hunters are still a common sight at airshows in the UK.

I always fall back on the F-16. But other contenders would be just about all twi'-tails: F-14, F-15, F/A-18 and SU-27

Hunter is a very good suggestion, it was responsible for the statement 'if it looks right, it flies right'. Hawker's Sydney Camm out-did himself.
Mirage 3/5 series and Kfir. Viggen, Gripen, Rafale. F-15 A/C, F-14 with swept back wings, B-one again with wings swept back. And of course the plane that first infected me with Aviatitis in the late-60's: the One-O-Four Gee. Don't care much for F-22, JSF, B-2 or F-117. What is it that I have against stealth, I ask myself... Smoke on...Go! |

The F-22 is okay, it is the most glamore queen of the Stealth family.... B-2 second.
Now if the SR-71 Blackbird was considered stealth then it would win this beauty pageant. :wink |

So far for me it has to be the E-3D AWAC. But since i've only been photographing for a few months, things will no doubt change :wink:wink

I know this is a military aircraft forum, but I have always thought the Concorde was the most graceful aircraft in the skies. The B-1 follows on the same idea and layout.
The F-104 is incredibly sleek. It definitly has the "looks fast sitting on the ground" quality. The Soviet Mig-21 is another sleek design. The stove-pipe fuselage and delta wing are classic. |

I don`t get to see many military aircraft, but I loved making pictures of the F4U Corsair, as it is a real classic with a unique design.
I would love to see the SR-71 and the F-14 Tomcat in flight! I`m looking forward to go to Wittmund, Germany, to take some pictures of the F4 Phantom. F-14 Tomcat 4-ever!:) |

My favorites are the Starfighter and the Phantom:
I saw the SR-71 several times, but unfortunately always at the wrong moment (i.e. not flying)... Best regards, |

I like photographing the all MiG-21 versions. I think the MiG-21 have very fascinating, entrancing sight. The aircraft looks wild, fast and powerful because the nose and the delta wings. If you see the wings And the design is very clear, and nice.

I would go for the F-4 Phantom and the Saab Viggen. Both look menacing from most angles and I always enjoyed to photograph these wonderful fighters.

I think the Apache, the way it looks hovering low behind a hill or treetop, its a pretty scary machine.

Lots of excellent choices. It's too hard to pick just one. I like all the choices already made. Two of my favorites not mentioned are the B-17 and the corsair. For personal reasons I also have an attatchment to the F-111.

The F-14 and F-4, because they look muscular, as though they could pick up lesser airplanes and beat the stuffing out of them.
The Mirage 2000, for sex appeal. The Mirage F1, for looking exotic. And the Mirage IV, for all the above reasons. -M.M. |

I have only done a couple of photos, but , for me, the older and more wear and tear and aircraft has the more interesting to me.
I love to see all the little details the plane has... My Paintings at |
