It's been a while since we've added any new plugins for the site, but I do have a couple planned for the near term and they are in the works. I have even bigger ideas for the site which will be implemented in the months to come, to take the site to an even higher level. For now, I'm very excited to announce a new sister site to airfighters.com for all your airliner and other civilian photos. That's right, a site for your airliner photos. I felt the timing was just right with all that is happening in the world of airliner photos.

The two sites will mirror each other in functionality, and design, although the colors on the new site will be blue. You will not have to register again for the new site. If you're registered for airfighters.com your account will automatically work for the new site as well. Likewise, new members registering on one site will automatically be registered for the other. Only your username/password will be shared, everything else will stay separate. Now you can upload all your photos to basically one site, separated by the name. I know there are many of your out there who shoot both civil and military and this will provide another venue for your civilian photos.

My goal is to have the new site up and running by the end of this week, or early next week. I will make an announcement as we get close to launch. Any questions, thoughts, concerns, please speak up.

Thanks Ray, this sounds like a very interesting and positive development. I think having two mirrored but separate sites for military and civil aircraft will help to achieve a balance which is perhaps lacking on some other airliner sites but at the same time will make uploading as easy as it is now here. Funnily enough I was looking through some old film negatives yesterday and found some photos of old 707 air freighters at Ostend, my immediate reaction was one of 'can't be bothered to jump through the hoops' for "another site" but now I will scan them with some enthusiasm. If you could help put that bit of sparkle back into photographing civil aircraft that would be wonderful

Tks for the good news, I can't wait to upload the first civil pics on this new site.

Hopefully more and more photographers will use both sites instead of a well known site (civ & mil together)
that is becoming unpopular due to recent changes, their upload polici and long waiting times before publication.
Further also sometimes their reason of rejection is frustrating. Example: a picture taken at evening (with late evening sun) from a crashed airplane was rejected with reason "There is a problem with the colours in these photo(s). This may be due to one of two reasons: either there is a strong colour cast that makes the photo(s) look too red/blue/yellow etc., or you seem to be using a low colour depth in your photos".
So only photoshopped pics with unnatural colors will be accepted .....

Will the civilian site be a seperate entity, or merged like JetPhotos? Will existing AirFighters members be able to use the same log-in?
