Looks like Northrop Grumman and Airbus are in the race to win the lucrative $40B tanker program to replace the aging KC-135 tankers. The tankers based on the popular Airbus A330-200 aircraft will formally be called the KC-30. The U.S. Air Force has a proposal out for 179 tankers and right now is the top acquisition priority. This is the first phase of possibly 500 tankers to be ordered. You can read the full story here.
