A new photo uplod interphase has been implemented. The main changes are the new "Auto Fill" feature any multi dependent drop-down menus for the aircraft, location, and air force.

Auto Fill
Enter the registration number, or construction number, not case sensitive, of the aircraft you wish to upload a photo for. If the data is already in the database, then it will automatically populate the correct fields for you. All you have to do is enter the location and date. Browse for the correct photo and enter a remark if you wish, and click the upload button and watch the file get uploaded to the database.

Successful Upload
Upon successful upload you will see a text message advising you of a successful upload. If you look below the message, you will notice that it remembered everything from the previous upload, including location and date. This can be a big time saver if you have multiple photos of the same aircraft. Even at this point you can still use the "Auto Fill" feature to search for info of another aircraft while retaining the location and date info. Again, this will work if the data is already in the database. If not found, and you wish to upload an entirely different photo, please remember to change the location and date accordingly.

Partial Info
Sometimes, the "Auto Fill" feature will find data for the photo you are trying to upload, but may not fill in the exact version. This means that the exact version is not in the database drop-downs. At this point you can select "other" and you will see a text field appear next to the drop-down. You can enter the exact type, or sub-type.

Not in the list
If an aircraft, location, air force, etc. is not already in the drop-downs, you can scroll all the way down and select "other". At this point you will see a text area appear next to the selected drop-down menu and you can enter the exact data there.

The drop-downs for aircraft and location, including a few air forces, will be re-done shortly. They are a big sloppy for a few aircraft types and sub-types. They will be fixed in the coming days and weeks, please bear with us and do the best you can in the mean time.

I think at this point, we have almost everything figured out and fixed. But, nothing beats real-world testing, so please give it a try and report any problems below.

As far as I can see the new system seems to be working out pretty good and has actually promoted uploading as most of the data is retained for the next upload and thus saving a lot of time.

The only problem I see is that a lot of you are still doing what I have in red above. That is a big no no. In the example above, the only thing that would be displayed is F-16B and we all know that is not correct. The full name needs to appear and thus the final drop down would/should be "General Dynamics F-16B". There are several photos like that in que right now where the data is not entered correctly. If you have photos in que right now, and are wondering why they aren't getting approved, that's probably why. Please go to your "My Photos" section and edit the photos accordingly. Otherwise, I'm afraid "Bad Data" rejections may be on the way. We simply don't have the time anymore to fix things or do research to find the correct info. I hope everyone understands the importance of this and I thank you for your cooperation.

TomGAny else experiencing problems with the upload page? I can select the first line - "Boeing" for instance but do not get the subsequent levels revealed

I've been using Firefox, and to date i've not had any problems with the up load page. I must agree with Micheal, the new upload page is a big improvement :wink

Since a couple of days, while trying to upload, I get the message "total file-name should be not longer than 32 characters"... Not a big issue, but since in general, my file-names are longer, I have to rename them before uploading...
Is there a specific reason for this?

I thought the picture was screened by a screener but now it's still not online or rejected and I can't edit it because I got that message.

I think I found out what the problem was... While reviewing the file-name (for not allowed caracters) I noticed that I had selected a wrongly edited version which was slightly above the max upload size (1024kB). I now tried it with the correct edit, which is smaller than 1024kB and it worked

I know what you are saying. That would really be a lot of work for a few aircraft that share the same registration number. Please don't forget that you can also use the Cn in the Auto Fill box. Give it a try please. We might visit it at a later time, but for now there are a few more urgently needed plugins that need attention.

Please do a Shift+Refresh to reload all the new files. Then try again. Please let me know how it goes.

Autofill for regs works fine,
