Just a quick note in recognition that today, the 27th March is Airfighters 6th Birthday, here is a reminder of how it all started six years ago today with this first image accepted onto the database, being this superb shot of a steamy Cat sadly flying into retirement, uploaded by our very own Mr Derden

Time goes bye fast, but the Tomcats where remembered forever

And it's funny that today again a Tomcat had made it to the Top24, marking the anniversary (Thank you guys) ! Not so actionloaden like Mr Derdens Shot, but back in 1999

Thanks to Ray and his superb group of Screeners, Editors, Photographers, Members, Visitors and the Families behind for this superb site

Six years? Surely not!

I still remember receiving a personal e-mail from Ray asking if I would like to contribute so I did, my first photo was #2252 in the database. It was good to be able to submit photos of military aircraft which would have been rejected by other databases, it has always felt as if military photographers 'belong' here.

Have to compliment Ray, if he ever tires of running Airfighters there must surely be a very senior position waiting for him in the Diplomatic service. I have never known him be anything other than totally calm, level headed and even handed. Always a great personal touch. And I claim he created the 'Boneyard' category just for me :wink Thanks Ray.

This is the only place I upload to now (apart from my own Yahoo photo group) just a couple of photos a month. With each photo I find myself writing a personal note to the Screener, just seems right to do so and if the photo does not make it then no issue, I trust the Screeners.

There is one unsung hero though, the Database Editor! I think this has been different people over the years however I have delighted in finding the most weird aircraft designations and they have always been fitted in. Thank you!

To the next six years

Michael

Thanks everyone! I can't believe it's been six years either. Sure doesn't feel like it. Here's to the next six.

to all!

Very happy birthday for airfighters.com, and a huge thanks to Ray and the entire AF team, as well as all our contributors. It really wouldn't be possible without any of you all. I can't say how amazing it is to be but a small part of this site!

It's the only website that I visit almost daily and where I care to maintain a couple of albums. My contributions are modest in numbers, as I don't have that much of material myself, but still I feel the site is worth every minute I spend on it. And as a scale modeler, provides in some cases decent reference material also.

So here goes onto another 6 and more! ::2thumbs_grin}
