P3-Orion VS P8-Poseidon, What's the evolution?
I'm working on that and would like to know if one of you guys have an idea of what is the huge evolution between the former P3-Orion and the PA8-Poseidon? |

The P-8 will be much more net-centric than the P-3s currently are. The ability to integrate into the digital battlefield will be built-in from the start and not just a retrofit.
P-8 will be able to refuel in-flight, get to station faster, & carry a greater array of weapons. /N |

Nevermind all this net-centric stuff, surely the huge evolution is the fact that the P-8 is a 737 and powered by turbofans whereas the P-3 is powered by turboprops?

Jet vs turboprop may not be the issue. A MPA's best ability is loiter time, which is derived from fuel economy. Turboprops are much more efficient than turbofans. The jet will allow the P-8 to get on station quicker and be more compatible with USN/USAF in-flight refueling standards.
