I thought it was odd last week when a C-130 photos I posted was a runner-up two days in a row, beating out many of Baldur's fabulous photos. (More people were looking at a grey transport than ADC-schemed F-4s? Not a chance!)
I began to wonder seriously if something was wrong when I saw the latest "Hot shots of the week" e-mail, and didn't remember seeing two of the top photos on the AF.com homepage, even though I visit it daily. As I type this, the top photo and first runner up are the same image. I think it's time to grab an IT wrench and lift up the hood, Ray!  -M.M. |

Airfighters.com reserves the right to update the home page top photo as we see fit, regardless of links posted elsewhere.
 Whether by the photographer, or any other community taking an interest in a particular photo for one reason or another.

I don't get it. How can a photo (e.g., Henk's Viggen #120292, at the moment) simultaneously be both the top photo of the last 24 hours and the first runner-up, viewing irregularities or none? -M.M. |

It was/is the first runner up. I decided to put the large image on the front page because I didn't agree that the "actual" top photo belonged in that spot. I simply went with the next deserving photo.

It's just a sad think the way you make decisions. This is not the first time and it happens quite often to my pictures, too. Quite weird. Maybe you should think about renaming it to "Ray's top 24 hours". Or create a second ranking including the pics you liked the best.

Yes, try telling that to the photographer who lost out the top spot because a modeling community decided to discuss a derelict F-4 that was uploaded months if not years ago.
I already have a category for the photos I like best, it's called Editor's Choice. -Ray |

I also noticed the Viggen but did not pay that much attention.
Obviously as this approach is biased, and will not be regarded by anyone as 100% fair. But IMO it is a good choice and in the end a consequence of the stir that the heavy (un)intended linking caused that makes/made many Top of the Day shots. Andreas Regards |

Ray's website, Ray pays the bills so...
I think I hit the 'Top Photographer for 24 Hours' spot a while back, posted a not great shot of an F-14A Tomcat approaching NAS Oceana in very poor light conditions. Seems the Tomcat's camo scheme was quite transitional at the time and a lot of scale modellers got quite excited about it, hence my Airfighters top spot for 24 hours. Fame indeed! These days I spend more time scale modelling than taking photographs though I do upload here occasionally. So I am not too bothered anymore to be quite honest. However I do have to ask, why is it so important "WHO" is looking at your photos? Not sure I understand why a view from a scale modeller is less valuable than someone else? No, not broken. Overridden by me. Unfortunately we have one shady character always trying to give himself an edge. He must be suffering from lack of attention. Never seen anybody more childish. That person is about to get all their photos removed from the site and banned for good.
