The next two weeks it will be hot in Payerne -
- but not only from the Hornets ! The French Air Force is visiting Switzerland again for the yearly exercise called EPERVIER ! Some pictures of the last visits from ESC 1/2 'Cigognes' in Payerne - enjoy them !
This year I will make a Video in full-HD  C ya in the land of cheese and chocolate ! PS: This should be an thread for gathering informations - do not hesitate to ask, I will try to help

Yes, Mirages allways gives great photo opportunities.
In my younger years I went to Payerne in my holidays to take some pictures or making some old VHS-movies ;-)
Today, with the french Mirage 2000 it is a little bit different. More powerful than the good old Mirage III, these aircraft give phantastic opportunities…….

It looks like, that we have the same Transall (64-GB) in PAY, that we had in 2010.....

One Week is done - ...
So - one half of the exercise is already finished and it's time for a little feedback. Nearly all of the Mirages where already in use during some of the earlier EPERVIER-Campaigns out of Payerne - this here already the 3rd time 
Quite some changes in the numbers made since it's 1st visit 2002 ! The Biplace is the same like last year, no changes made at all. Mostly flying together with one of the 'heavy' Hornets (with two Underwing Tanks, like the J-5017 seen here), one of those flights made included the landing in France over lunch break (and me freezing in one of my special positions on the waiting of there homecoming ...) 
The first wave (Transall and four Mirages/Hornet) departed in between 0830-0900h LT and they stayed for about one hour in the air. The refueling was made normally over Sion. 2-4 waves a day, the M2000B flying separate missions from the Air Defense Fighter Mirages.
... one Week to go The second week is without the Transall. I hope the French Detachment had a nice weekend with a lot of sightseeing in the area. You can speak to them without problems, except the language (but there English is very improved since 2002 !!!) of course. The best time to see them in the public Airfield Restaurant is over lunch break, from 1200-1330h LT. You can also buy some batches there, they hope to receive some more of the Official EPERVIER-Batches on Monday. They where sold out since Wednesday. You can see what they have in the Vitrine just after the door in the Restaurant - underwear, T-shirt, Batches, Mousepads ... everything with some of the sexiest fighter of the world on it - the Mirage !!!  During your visit you have also to go to Alpnach - two of the famous German Army CH-53G's are based there 'till the end of the week.
Meiringen has reduced activity, meaning only 2-4 waves with 2-4 Hornets. But one week later, Meiringen is playing the 1st base of Switzerland, with Repetition Course on F-5 and F-18 flying nonstop from 0800-1800h LT !!!
