I went to "Hyakuri Air Base" in japan. I was excited about the F-15J & RF-4EJ afterburner. |

Great videos, thanks!! Great time of day to see the burners but still see the aircraft.
I ran them side-by-side, starting them at brake release. The F-15 rotated and lifted off just slightly ahead of the F-4. I thought the F-15 would have a much shorter takeoff roll. (Please, I'm not criticizing the F-15, just making an observation from these two videos.) These remind me of some burner takeoffs I have watched: F-106, SR-71, and of course F-14s. |

Thank you for the comment.
I actually have not seen F-14. But i like F-14. My favorite movie is "Top Gun"! |

This is "tooting my own horn," but as a fan of afterburner, I posted an article on this site about shooting some burner photos while flying.
One of my photos of a Tomcat in burner on the catapult is on Airfighters. Let me see if I can get these links to two other photos to work: |

Quote Well, sights like this were part of the deal: field carrier landing practice (bouncing) on Friday night when you wanted to be at the club, 2 v Many ACM engagements, night catapult launches into the abyss, low-level fly-by of Coronado Hotel, manning the spare and not launching, high-speed runs during post-maintenance check flights. And we got to see roaring afterburners up close, and then experience that cat shot ourselves. When you saw this, you were next! |

I just looked at one of your other videos: the F-15J high rate climb - wow, that looks like a rocket!
