Hi All,
There's a lot of confusion about the current reg numbers and construction numbers for the Thunderbirds' planes touring Europe right now. These are the current numbers:

92-3898/1 CC-140
92-3896/2 CC-138
92-3908/3 CC-150
92-3880/4 CC-122
92-3888/5 CC-130
91-0392/6 CC-90
92-3890/7 CC-132
92-3881/8 CC-123

Please use it for future uploads and if you have photos in the queue with the wrong info, please correct it. Thanks.

Thanks for correcting my uploads, Ray!

Credit for the correct numbers - i.e. for Koksijde - is "Crizz", who mentioned it on Scramble.

Thanks and regards,

Walter

Walter

Hi Ray,

My photo-id 77690 (Thunderbird 1) still has the wrong numbers, can you correct this one as well?

http://www.airfighters.com/photo/77690/M/USA-Air-Force/General-Dynamics-F-16C-Fighting-Falcon/92-3880/

This one should also become:92-3898/1 CC-140

Thanks and regards,

Walter

I dont want to put my foot in it etc but the Thunderbirds do seem to change the numbers very regular, I think they changed twice at Waddington as at 18.00 3-7-11 when we had spoken to ground crews and shot each one by the line they read as-

1 92-3898
2 92-3890
3 92-3881
4 92-3880
5 92-3888
6 91-0392
7 92-3896
8 92-3890

They sure confused me at times as I even got them wrong on photo uploads !

It can be confusing. They tend to change the code numbers quite often. I'm not sure what the reasoning for that is.

Hi Ray well they fly a fast high G show so they seem to change aircraft about quite bit so no one airframe takes all the G quite good thinking really as Iam sure the Reds over here only change aircraft about in the formation once a year ? sure someone may well know more .........

Maybe it's simply that the jets that were #2 and #3 at Koksijde devloped snags before Waddo, and were swapped for the spares (#7 and #8)? Stu's list shows that 1, 4, 5, and 6 didn't change between the two shows, but presumably if one of them needed maintenance it would have been swapped for '3896 or '3908 once they were fixed.

The numbers are vinyl stick-ons; it takes more time to move a jet to its new spot in the parking line than it does to change its number.

Hi Ray,

My photo-id 77593 (Thunderbird diamond formation, showing the number 3 in the formation as closest) has been corrected, but now it has the wrong code (5), whereas it should be "3", can you correct this one as well?

Thanks and regards,

Walter
