These helicopters have temporary military markings for their test flights.
The German military 98-series registrations are used as temporary serials, that will be available for an other airframe once the helicopter has been delivered to its new owner. You may find more of these 98-=series registrations in the database. |

Correct answer about the 98-regs used in Germany, but the question somehow remains why a German test registration is used for flights of an supposedely future Iraqi AF helicopter?!

I *guess* it is because it can be armed.
Armed aircraft are normally not allowed in the civil register. So test flightes of these can not be made with the D-H-registrations that normally are used. I'm not sure. It's an educated guess. Joop |
