If I had to pick only one aircraft, it would have to be the F-4 Phantom II, all flavors of it. The beast just looks mean and beautiful in every way. From the twin canopies to the radome and the drop-down looking horizontal stabilizers, there is simply nothing boring about it. There were so many versions and in so many different colors and camo schemes one can never get bored of looking at them. Let alone that over 5000 were built and operated by dozens of countries, and guess what, it is still in service after almost 40 years since first roll-out. As a modeler I had a lot of fun building 1/48 scale Hasegawa kits of these. I especially liked the Us Navy versions of it. Just something about them. Long live the Phantom!

If it were going to be a jet is is either a F-86 Saber, or F-15 Eagle.

If it were going to be prop.. P-51 Mustang or P-38 Lightning.

Jet era....definately the F4 Phantom....nasty....mean looking fighter capable of mach 2 and a machine gun added with the E version. The F/A 18 Super Hornet is my favorite for modern fighters.

For WWII I would have to go with the P51 Mustang for the USAAF and the FW-190A for the Luftwaffe.

Hello everyone, I'm from China and I'm new here, as you can see, this is the first reply I post here since this topic catches me so much.

Ok,to the point.

As for those legendary warbirds in WWII, My favourite aircraft must be the Fw-190 from the fearful Luftwaffe. Especially the D version with the sexy long nose.It was the best combaination of beauty and power and as the war went on, the Fw-190 proved to be the only effective gun platform against those heavily armored Allied bombers and ground attacks such as the IL-2 better knowned as the Black Death. The Fw-190 was also an Ace Maker. Erich Rudolf was one of the best well known aces flying Fw-190.Believe it or not, He could use the guns on his Fw-190 so accuratly as to guarantee such an unparalle record of making 13 air to air kills within a mere 16 minutes.

While talking about the cotemporary jets, My favourite must be the beautiful and lethal Eurofighter Typhoon.
Thanks to its evolutionary delta-conar design and the capable jet engines with huge thrust, the Typhoon had the maneuverbality second to none. Accelerating from still on the runway to mach 1.0 within 30 seconds was just breaking sweat for this beauty&beast. It also has quite a large payload if the 13 pylons in total could be used wisely. In short, I love the Typhoon, from its look to its performance.

(sorry for my poor english)

Hard question... Phantom: a nasty classic and still impressive, Phantom Phorever. The F-16. Followed that one since red-white-blue YF-16 '01567' saw daylight (yeah, I'm that old...). F-14/F-15 twin-tails, to a lesser extend the F/A-18, SU-27 and MiG-29 (in that order).

World War Two: the Spitfire of course, with its elliptical wings unclipped please. Mustang (the P-51D with bubble canopy) a good second.

I've always had a soft spot for some of the Swedish designs. Bear in mind the 50's design Draken double delta. Ahead of its time. The 60's design Viggen pioneered what has become standard in Europe with the Rafale Typhoon and Gripen: delta/canard. Speaking of the latter, the 80's design JAS-39 is truly my favourite in this category. Very tiny but packed with a huge brain and punch. Small is beautiful in combat. Maybe not stealthy enough but that aspect is sometimes a bit over-rated...

Cheers guys.

My Favourite aircraft of all time has to be the Tornado F3

why?

My local airbase has the most Tornado F3's in the world now (I think :P) and i have grown up with that aircraft going over my house nearly every day.

Not much but thats good enough for me

Yep, the Tornado looks awesome, but somehow I prefer the air-to-mud variant, less sleek but all the more sturdy and aggressive. Huge tail, though...

How about an oldie like the F-105 Thunderchief. Nothing blasted around so fast at sea level like the good ol' Thud. Area ruling like Marilyn Monroe's hips and these very specific intakes... Aah, women and jets, a deadly combination...

Thanx. Pity that the 32nd TFS Wolfhounds left Camp New Amsterdam/Soesterberg AFB in the Nineties. They really made my day as a (then-)spotter in the Seventies with the F-4E TISEO Phantoms and the Flying Tenniscourts after that.

Talking about Thuds and Phantoms, they were the backbone in the Vietnam War and deserve a pedestal for it...

Congratulations Peter! You're the first one to figure out how to insert images directly from your PFS here. I told you it was easy. Remember, you can move it around, put spaces in between, colleft, collright, etc. to get it exactly where you want it. Good job, and the paintings look awesome.

Thanx Ray! Ill give it a try... And hey, there might be more aviation artists around who might be very interested in this awesome site...

I'm all over your site right now. But prolonged times of radio silence can occur due to the fact that I'm busy then. However, it won't 'out of sight, out of mind'...

By the way, I noticed that I'm actually not able to upload an image in all of the forum topics. How come..?

Copy... out!

There are so many aircraft that I could choose from, let's face it if it goes airborne, carries guns or missiles, then I like it lol !!!

The Phantom has it's fair share of admirers and rightly so, I adored the F14 Tomcat as I thought that showed the true presence of a capable and goodlooking aircraft.

Helicopters are my thang (as you can probably tell from the number of photos I have uploaded of them lol), and I would love to see the KA50 Black Shark one day. Also I am very fond of the AH1 Cobra in all its various forms.

The Spitfire is obviously gorgeous, and likewise the P51.

Although never operational, the XB70 Valkyrie carries beauty in an ugly sort of way !

It is difficult to pick out any individual favourite of mine, and so will have to sit on the fence with this one although leaning heavily on the F14 !

Cheers,

Tim

This is my first post on here after several weeks of just looking around, so hello to everyone.

I would have to say my favorite aircraft would have to be the Mirage 2000D. All the Dassault aircraft to me have extremely good lines and all have been very successful.

Some close followers would be the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle, and the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18F Super Hornet.

Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. Why? Because no other aircraft in the world even comes close when it comes to blowing the ever-living crap off the face of the planet and out of existence.

I can see why the BUFF is your fav. The saying goes: the crew that delivers the last B-52 to the AMARC storage facility in Tucson, will be picked up afterwards by a... B-52! It's not pretty but pretty irreplaceable.
