The US Navy is celebrating its centennial in 2011 and one of the unique things being done is authorization to paint a number of aircraft in historical "retro" paint schemes. Kingsville's TW-2 has released T-45A 163656 as B200 in a 1930's-ish era carrier scheme, with white fuselage, yellow wings and black nose and tail. TW-1, at Meridian, will follow with 165598 having blue trim. TW-6 at Whiting has a TH-57 in an all gray scheme with the original USN anchor insignia on it. Other aircraft are supposed to follow in other motifs, which are being developed by an office at Airpac.

I haven't seen anything yet, but supposedly a T-45 and a H-60 have already been painted.

This is what the T-45 will look like.

VFA-122 at Lemoore has just painted one of their F-model Super Hornets in a stunning digital camo scheme. Haven't found any official US navy photos of it yet, but here's a link to some pics! VFA-122 Digital Camo

Now it's about time some of these east coast squadrons step up their game!

US Naval Forces and the Centennial have a Facebook page. They are adding new photos of the CONA special schemes and also pictures from times long past.
As one who served in The United States Naval Aviation, I have been following this. I hope to head to NAS Lemoore in October for the Airshow where many of the commemoratives are going to be visiting. I also did a tour there in the eighties.
