Despite rumors of a few friendly nations getting the F-22 Raptor eventually, the U.S. has officially stated that the F-22 will not be available for export. This is unusual as the Raptor is an expensive aircraft (at about $200 million a piece) and the extra aircraft could help spread some of the development costs. The real issue is to keep the technology secrets as secret as possible. Apparently the United States considers the F-22 technologies so important that they don't want to take any chances with leaks.
Over the years, except for spy planes and stealth technology, has there been any other aircraft that never made it to other countries? -Ray |

I hadn't realized that the F-22 was intended for export. I guess I assumed that with the Joint Strike Fighter in the mix, that would become the next internationally disperse aircraft, similar to the way the F-16 is now. Does anyone know how that works; how a US developed aircraft becomes a product for export? What I mean is, other than the all mighty dollar, what's the point of making an aircraft superior to that of your enemy, only to make that aircraft available to any and all, including your enemy?

I can't understand it, they won't export the F-22 but they share the JSF development with partner countries...

Its just like the old F-15 the Aircraft was not intended to be exported to other countries in the beginning. After the USAF was able to prove the aircraft was far superior to anything being produced in the eastern European country's mainly Mig and suki they decided to allocate the F-15 elder model that were already not being used in the USAF's inventory.... These aircraft were sent to America's Friends only. These country’s were hand picked by the USAF in a Fighter Trade program and Intel. Great Britain, Canada, and later in the late 1980's Israel.... Other than those three countries Japan is also the only buyer of the aircraft but these numbers of aircraft only are about 150... and most aren’t flown any more.
The JSF contracts were created as a F-16 fighter replacement which contains a small amount of stealth tech... It does not compare to the stealth or engine tech... compared to the F-22... But the F-35 is still a wonderful plane... just not as good as the F-22... |

Yes.... The B-52, B-57 Hustler, B-1, B-2, U-2, SR-71, B-36 Peacemaker, Also the Boeing B-47... In know theses for sure...

It's kind of funny but, most of the aircraft on the list i would not like to own or even fly in... lol.
Only good aircraft out of the list.... A-6 Intruder/EA-6 Prowler === To Slow for modern combat, okay electronic Jamming cappabiitys.. A-10 Thunderbolt II === Great aircraft.. What more that flying a Tank... C-5 Galaxy === Heavy lifter that transported everything. C-141 Starlifter === Heavy lifter that transported everything. E-4 Airborne Command Post === The long range eyes in the sky... |

true... But when you look at the aircraft that are out their that they could tangle with, i for one would not want to be in the EA-6...
