Hi Everyone,
As noted in a previous post, the server migration is complete, slowly but surely. Moving all the 82,260 photos from one server to another was not an easy task. Before you ask 82,260, please keep in mind that there are 5 versions of each photo: the original file uploaded, the large version, the medium version, small thumbnail, and tiny thumbnail. Of course, the smaller thumbnails are much smaller in file size, but still it adds up to a lot of MBs to transfer over. As you can see all in all, just about everything is working fine. Unfortunately, an important feature that is not working is the photo upload script. Why? Well, uploading photos with data is a very finicky thing. Uploading photos, easy! Uploading data, easy! Combine the two and you end up with a lot of variables that have to go just right. Now, we had this perfected on the old server, it needs a little bit of work, actually a lot of work, to get it right here. While we're on a semi-dedicated server, there are a few strict rules that we have to abide by being a part of a large cluster of servers. Why choose this method of hosting? Well, for one it is a little less expensive than getting your own fully dedicated server, and secondly it offers the redundancy and resources of many servers. Yes, it is actually better because you can really never over-load the server. Being part of a large cluster of servers means you can use their resources when needed and thus this will provide faster speeds and almost 100% reliability. Even if one server goes down, or is being worked on, the site will still be up and running. The down side is that you have a few stricter rules to play with as one thing on your server can affect others and vice-versa. We're working hard to over-come this obstacle and believe me when I say this, I hate downtime more than you do. After all this, another day or two, or possibly less, should not be that hard to deal with. I am happy that everything else is working as it should, and as you can see I think our migration went a lot smoother than another site did recently. :-) We will get this fixed soon. I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding regarding this matter. I will let you all know here when the problem has been rectified. -Ray |

Hi all,
I'm happy to say we can start uploading photos again. However, we could not get the progress bar to work properly so we have left it "OFF" for now. That is the default setting until we get it fixed. If you leave it off, things should work properly. Have fun uploading. -Ray |
